James Biggins

Biography

Jim Biggins is considered to be St. Edward High School’s first all-around athlete. He earned six varsity letters--three in basketball, two in football and one in track-- before he graduated from St. Ed’s in 1946. Jim was high scorer in the Northeast Catholic Conference when, in his senior year, he led the Green Wave to its first conference and district basketball titles. He was St. Edward’s most valuable football player in 1945 and his 100-yard dash was a school mark  for 10 years. Jim played semi-pro baseball from 1945-1950 and was a member of the 1950 state champion Elgin Post 57  American Legion team.
