Linda Gough

Elgin High School Class of 1978


Linda earned nine letters at Elgin High School while playing basketball (Most Valuable player, 1976—77), softball (Golden Bat and Golden Glove Award) and volleyball.

Linda became the first girl to be named Athlete of the Year at Elgin High School (1977). She received a full four—year athletic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin.

At the university, she played four basketball seasons, setting the record for consecutive games (103). With 1057 career points, she became the first player to score 1000 points.

She served as the assistant women's basketball coach at UW—Madison from 1981—1986.
