Corinne (Cohen) Grotenhuis

Biography

Corinne (LHS 1983) is a 10 time Master World Champion weightlifter, winning titles in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Hungary, Greece, Poland, and the Ukraine.  She was inducted into the IWF Master World Hall of Fame in 2013.  She has set numerous records and still holds the records for the 40-44 age group (69 kg. class) with a 66 kg. snatch lift, 80 kg. clean and jerk lift, and total lift of 146 kg.  In 2012, Grotenhuis won the Grand Slam by claiming titles in the Nationals, World Championships, Pan American and Master Americans competitions.  She has been inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame (2013) for winning 10 national championships (three different age groups) and for being a supporter of Masters weightlifting in the USA.  Corinne set the current record for the 45-49 age group with a snatch lift of 58 kg. while winning her eighth National title.  That same year, she was named best lifter in her age and weight group for a second consecutive year at the Pan American Games while setting three records.  Overall, Grotenhuis has won five Pan American championships and 10 Master National championships and set numerous records in the past at the Arnold Classic, Masters National and the Senior Nationals.  She is currently the Womens Chair for USA Masters Weightlifting, and is also the only female ever to hold the position of Chair for the Master Pan American championships.
