Biography

VinceĀ  is inducted into the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame for his achievements in baseball. Vince was a two time Upstate 8 Conference 1st team selection and a 1985 All-State 1st team member. He batted .420 and .413 and stole 60 bases in his two varsity seasons. Harris played outfield for the Triton Junior College conference and region championship team (1986), batting .416 with 37 runs batted in and 50 stolen bases. As a result, Vince was drafted by the Chicago White Sox. From 1986 - 1996, he played in the minor leagues for three organizations: Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres. He hit .282 for Riverside (Class A+) in 1990, then was promoted to Wichita (AA) where he had averages of .286, .281, and .274.
