Marcus Howard

Biography

Marcus is inducted for basketball. A three year varsity starter in basketball.  As a sophomore, he was part of the Elite 8 squad that finished with a school record of 31 wins.  In his senior year, Marcus averaged 17.8 points per game, led the Upstate 8 Conference in 3 point field goals made and was named All-Conference First Team.  In addition, he was a member of the 2000 IBCA Class 3A/4A North Team and a member of Team Illinois in the Wendy’s Classic Series.  Howard finished his Elgin career as the 13th leading scorer in school history with 45 double digit scoring games.   At.Indiana State University, Marcus was a starter on the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship Team and the NCAA tournament team that upset Oklahoma in the first round.  As a sophomore, Marcus was named to the MVC All-Defensive Team.  He led the team in steals and was the 2nd leading scorer in his junior year.  His career high 50 steals in 2002 tied him for 4th in the MVC, when he was considered the best defender in the conference.  Howard finished his career at ISU 8th all-time in 3 point field goals made and 10th in steals.
