Glen E. Lose

Biography

As the leading scorer on the 1952—53 Elgin High School basketball team, Glen led the Maroons into the first round of the state finals after scoring a career high 29 points, including 13 of 13 from the free throw line, in the sectional title game. His efforts that year were rewarded by being named to all-conference, all-area, and all-state teams. Glen continued to excel in basketball and was a starter for Northwestern's wildcats for three seasons, earning All—Big Ten honors twice and was named to the All—Big Ten Scholastic Team during his junior and senior years. He was captain his senior year, 1956—57. Glen also set a single game free throw mark for the WIldcats (16) in 1956. He coached at Ellis Junior High School (Elgin) 1957—61, and from 1962-71 HE coached sophomore basketball, baseball and varsity baseball teams at EHS. His soph cagers had a 127—51 record and took conference titles in 1963,67 and 68; his soph nines in 1963—66 won 49 and lost 19, earning a league title in 1963; and his varsity nines had a 30—11 record and a conference champ- ionship in 1968. In 1977 Glen was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
