Robert E. Morton
Elgin High School
Robert E. Morton, as a member of the Elgin High School basketball team that placed fourth in the state in 1943, compiled a four-day total of 58 points in the "Sweet Sixteen" Tournament. He was named to the All-State second team and was chosen to play in the North/ South All-Star game in Champaign. He went on to the UniversitY of Illinois where he earned two letters in basketball under Coach Mills. In 1947, Bob toured with the House of David's exhibition basketball team. Later, he went on to become an IHSA basketball official. In 1961, Bob continued his contributions to local sports when he was co-founder of Elgin's Continental Little League.
