Karl Plath

Elgin High School Class of 1944


This 1944 Elgin High School graduate went on to coach football at Evanston High School for nine seasons - the last seven as head coach (1950-56). He compiled a career record of 46-9-1 (.821 winning percentage) including two 8-0 seasons, three 7-1 seasons, and one 6-2 year. His teams won conference championships two times and were co-champions once. Twice his teams were voted Honorary State Champs. At EHS he played football two years, basketball four years, and tennis three years. In basketball, he captained the 1944 state runner-up team. He lettered four years in football at Marquette University and was co-captain his senior season (1948).
