Katy (Carter) Potts
Larkin High School Class of 1994
Katy was a 1994 graduate of Larkin High School and was inducted into the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame for softball. She starred for Larkin in 1993 and 1994, earning Courier News Player of the Year honors both years. In her junior year, Katy batted .400 with eight home runs and 34 runs batted in. As a pitcher, she was 11-3 with a 1.28 earned run average. In her senior year, Katy hit .471 with seven homers and 31 runs batted in. On the mound, she was 8-1 with a 1.57 earned run average. She then went on to be a four year letter winner and starter at DePaul University. During her college career, Katy started 168 of 204 games and had a career batting average of .309 with 14 homers and 56 runs batted in. She was named 1st team Mid Continent Conference three times – 1997, 1998, and 1999. In addition, Carter was named to the All Tournament Women's College World Series team in 1999 and received the DePaul Senior Leaders Award in 1999.
