Elgin High School Class of 1941
Milt Rein, who is inducted for football, was considered one of the mainstays of the unbeaten, unscored upon Elgin High School "lightweight" team of 1939. That team won the conference title, going 9-0, while outscoring the opposition 173-0. Rein, then a junior, was the team's leading scorer. He also helped lead the 1938 lightweights to a share of the conference title and was considered one of the fastest backs around. As a senior, he led the Elgin varsity in scoring (1940). That was the first year the school divided teams by class instead of weight. Rein was named all-conference three times. He also participated in track and basketball and won a letter in boxing. After high school, he played football for two seasons with the semi-pro Elgin Torpedoes.
