Larkin High School Class of 1993

Biography

Ryan graduated from Larkin High in 1993 after being a member of four consecutive conference championship teams. As a senior he batted .430 with a slugging average of .835 and an on base percentage of .596. Ryan also lead the conference with Larkin record setting nine home runs and 39 runs batted in. As a catcher ryan threw out 58% of runners attempting to steal and had a fielding percentage of .986. A team captain at Larkin, Sienko was a unanimous Upstate Eight All-Conference catcher for two years and was honored as the team MVP, Courier News Player of the Year, Mizuno All-American Honorable Mention, Chicago Sun Times 2nd Team All-State and Illinois High School Coached Association All-Star Team in 1993.

Ryan was a member of the 1991 Elgin Teener Babe Ruth State Championship team, 1993 Elgin Post 57 American Legion State Championship Team, and the 1994 Lombard Orioles Stan Musial State Championship Team.

Ryan continued his career at the University of Iowa where he was a four year lettermen. In his 8 year professional playing career (1997-2004), he played in the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox organizations as well as independant ball where he was an All-Star, league player of the week three times and league player of the month in June 2002. During the 2002 season he split the season between Joliet, IL and Winston-Salem with a combined .280 average with 22 doubles, 23 home runs, 55 RBI's and 33 HBP (all career highs). In 2010 he was the first player inducted into the Joliet JackHammers Hall of Fame.
