Elgin High School Class of 1969
Rick Sund was an Upstate Eight All—Conference and Rockford Morning Star first team All—State selection as an end on Elgin High School's 1968 varsity football team, which he also captained. Rick starred in basketball, ranking second among all—time Maroon cagers with a production of 1,138 points. He captained the EHS varsity five both his junior and senior years and was named to the Associated Press, Chicago Daily News, and Rockford Morning Star All-State basketball teams in 1969. Sund went on the play three years on Northwestern University's varsity five, gaining Most Valuable Player honors his sophomore year in 1971—72. He was also a tight end on Northwestern's football team. Rick played on the Big Ten All-Star cage team that toured the Western Pacific in 1971. He has the distinction of holding the prestigious Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University, which he earned in 1973. He served as an administrative assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks from 1974—80 and has been Director of Player Personnel for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association since 1980.
