Nominated as a friend of sports, Termini once was proclaimed Elgin High School's Number 1 Fan. He attended 1,161 straight Elgin High School basketball games, home and away, beginning in 1946 until he suffered a heart attack in February of 1988. Overall, he has witnessed over 1,430 Elgin basketball games and over 500 football games. Frank was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1978 as a "Friend of Basketball."
He has been a member of the "E" booster Club since 1946 and continues to serve the organization as a director. He has served the booster club as president (3 years), secretary (26 years), treasurer (4 years), membership chairman (31 years), banquet chairman (46 years), and member of the board of directors (47 years). In 1962 he was presented a solid gold toothpick for 15 years of continued service as a club officer, and in 1990 the booster club established two yearly $500 scholarships in his name. Frank was also instrumental in forming the Tri-County Conference Grade School Basketball League in 1956. The league still competes today. He has held positions as secretary or treasurer for the league since its inception and coached at St. Laurence Grade School in Elgin off and on for the last 33 years. St. Laurence recently named an athletic-academic award in his name.
Frank also has been involved in the formation of several Elgin youth leagues - the Classic Little League, Continental Little League, and the Pee-Wee Football League. A charter member of the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, he has served on the board of directors for 12 years and as treasurer since 1985. To stay active, he continues as a member of the high school football "chain gang"( spanning over 35 years).
