Elgin High School Coach
Mark Wilson is Elgin High School's all-time winningest football coach (by percentage), posting a .786 winning percentage (46-10-7) in seven seasons (1923-29). His teams scored 928 points and allowed just 237 as Elgin won three conference titles, including one shared title, during his tenure. The 1929 team was undefeated and untied, outscoring its opponents 177-19. Wilson took over midseason as head coach of the 1923-24 basketball team, which went on to win the first of two consecutive state championships. He replaced Otto Vogel when the team was 12-1. Elgin posted a 13-2 record the rest of the way under Wilson in route to the state title.
